On October 22, 2007, the National Enquirer reported the first in a series of revelations regarding media super star senator and presidential hopeful, John Edwards. The articles were backed with irrefutable evidence and documentation, photos, hotel video, records, yet the media drew the wagons around Edwards to protect his viability as a liberal force.
