Obama's ignorance of history and America is staggering, yet the media ignores it.

“Texas has always been a pretty Republican state, for purely historical reasons” Obama said, when asked why the President was so unpopular in Texas.

Actually, Texas has historically been Democrat, for purely historical reasons.
The last Democrat Governor was Ann Richards, from 1990-1994. Before Richards, Bill Clements was the only Republican Governor Texas had ever had except for two during reconstruction, after the Republican Party had defeated the Democrat party in the Civl War.
George W. Bush was the only Republican Governor to win reelection until the present Governor.
The Texas Senate switched to Republican control in 1997.
The Texas House switched to Republican control in 2003.
Texas has voted for the Republican Presidential candidate 12 times out of it's 39 Presidential elections and 9 of those times were for the winning candidate.

Barack Obama is a creature of the modern university and therefore an amazingly shallow man. Obama majored in political science at Columbia. Did he miss the fact that Texas was part of the solidly Democratic South -- the slaveholding, segregated, Jim Crow South -- from statehood in 1848 until Nixon's 1972 landslide?
Did Obama skip class the day he might have learned that in the the postbellum South, including Texas, the Republican Party was virtually nonexistent?
