For comedians, Obama poses a serious dilemma

I saw many of these jokes, the Obama jokes were never at his expense at all, and they were always mild and generic, whereas the Palin jokes were harsh, and focused on destroying her image and credibility by creating a permanent buffoonish memory of her, pretty much consisting of her being a ditsy airhead, McCain was about one joke, he is old people, very very old. By the way, where is the buffoonish Biden in all of this? WM

Punches were pulled during the campaign. Obama was the butt of only 58 jokes on five major late-night comedy shows - all of which are hosted by white men - in September, according to the latest figures compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Media and Culture. GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was the punch line 283 times, GOP presidential pick Sen. John McCain clocked in at 245, and even President Bush took 141 comedic blows.

"Most people in entertainment tend to be more liberal or more Democratic-leaning. So of course, all the blows will be landing on the right," said Brian Copeland, a Bay Area comedian who is shopping a television pilot of his popular stage show "Not a Genuine Black Man".
